Amy Jamieson is a Leeds-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores the quiet interplay between light, movement and the natural world.
Working across drawing, painting and installation, she draws attention to subtle environmental phenomena that are often overlooked – light filtering through trees, reflections that shift across water, and the gentle rhythms of shallow streams. Her works recall these personal experiences in nature, using landscape as a place to process and reflect, translated through intuitive mark-making using pencil, graphite powder, and chalk pastel on paper. These meditative processes act as the foundation for larger bodies of light-based installations that aim to evoke the sense of peace and tranquillity when immersed in nature.
Influenced by concepts drawn from string theory, her work reflects an ongoing interest in the interconnectedness of natural systems and the repetition of patterns across nature, from expansive landscapes to microscopic structures.
