Caitlín O’ Doherty

As a multidisciplinary Irish artist, O’ Doherty’s practice primarily moves between sculptural painting, community engagement, installation, film and audio work – to explore themes of love, loss, growth and connection. Her practice asks:

What forms of love exceed the boundaries of the body?

Rooted in pre-colonial cosmologies, the land-based metaphors and the etymology of the Irish language, her work seeks to embody the feeling of tenalach.

‘Tenalach’ – an Irish word representing the almost sacred relationship one has with the natural world; connection to the land, air and water.

As well as an artist, she also see herself as a facilitator.
Her practice serves as a way to satisfy a need for community engagement but also private introspection.

Across all mediums, her work hopes to invite slower and more contemplative encounters with colour, light, sound, and movement – creating space to feel forces beyond the visible body.

Caitlín is originally from Derry, currently completing her BA Fine Art with Contemporary Cultural Theory at the University of Leeds.

Recent exhibitions include ‘Return Collective’ at Studio One, Derry (December 2025), ‘Time Will Tell’ at the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, Leeds (November 2025), ‘Tangled Up in Blue’ at Void Art Centre, Derry (August 2025), ‘Carried Over’ at Project Space, Leeds (September 2025) and ‘Ephemeral’ at Hemera Hub, Barcelona (March 2025).
