Meg Bristol is an artist based in Cornwall and London, specializing in acrylic paintings. Her work explores the invisible buildings we pass by each day; corner shops, bus stops and cul-de-sacks.
Her recent paintings explore the relationship between an invitation and an exclusion. The audience are positioned as passers-by looking into the window of a decaying building, where they see a figure standing in the window. The moment is awkward, uncomfortable. The viewer is excluded from the building, ignored. The relationship is reversed.
The artists paintings are a collection of texture. They feature a collaboration of scrapes of paint and stamps of detail in an attempt to realise the weathered bricks and grey skies distinctive to the streets surrounding us.
