Scarlett E K Richardson

Scarlett’s practice explores connection through textiles, biomaterials and socially engaged participatory installation. Working with repurposed fabrics, natural dyes, and biomaterials made from food waste, she investigates how making can create and encourage relationships between people, materials and the environment.

Her work considers care, interdependence, and shared experience. Woven and tufted forms act as metaphors for interconnectedness, while the recurring use of orange evokes a sense of togetherness. Collaboration is central to her practice, particularly through Limbo, a series of site-specific immersive, dinner installations that bring people together to share food and engage in conversations around sustainability, waste and community.

Working in collaboration with the artist Charlotte Levy, they combine textile and biomaterial practices to create spaces for gathering. These events invite audiences to engage with making not only as a process, but as a means of connection.

Her work seeks to create spaces for dialogue and collective reflection, recognising how small, shared acts can act as catalysts for broader ecological awareness and change.
